Life is Good

Busy day in the office today, so not much to report, except to say that I had a fantastic weekend and, therefore, it is official, Life is Good.

It is Pancake Day tomorrow, how excited am I? However, after my try at making them yesterday, I can safely say, I doubt that I will be tossing any myself.

Can I get away with saying that?

If I put on my new specs and act a little coy, maybe I can.

Secretarial fetish anyone?

Oh and a big thank you to the person who is responsible for putting a huge smile on my face, soap and water cannot even shift this baby, believe you, me, I have tried.

Happy Monday everyone, don't forget your lemons!

Sleep is a Fairtrade for running yourself into the ground

Ok I admit it, I have crammed far too much into the last fortnight, not really giving myself the most adequate amount of time for rest.  After a week from feeling like a zombie I finally feel like I have had a good rest.  Managing to get nine hours straight sleep last night, I now feel as fresh as a daisy.

I am going to get on with this weeks Sundays with Angel in preparation for posing tomorrow as I will be working down on the Southbank.

What am I doing?  Well it is the start of Fairtrade fortnight and my company are setting up camp in the form of a stall at the Fairtrade Fayre.  Why not come down and lend your support, we will be in between the National Theatre and the OXO Tower, just along by the Southbank by the river.  Let us hope and pray it does not rain for two reasons, firstly as I do not particularly wish to get drenched and second, it will be Jade's wedding and I do wish her every blessing on her day, God love her.

Anyway I do have a review for this week, thank you for the person who posted on my site that the videos are well produced but the content lets it down.  I do embrace all feedback and am grateful for this comment remember I would like my casts to be interactive, so suggested topics are very welcome, maybe you have one?

Next week I shall be working on a Q&A video cast I have two questions from viewers so far, so if you would like to ask me anything for a post please drop me a line.  You can send me an email via the link this site.

Have a great weekend, see you all tomorrow.

The Starbucks Conspiracy Theory

It was while I was standing watching Mysterious Coffee Bean Sorting Girl that I began to ponder the institution of the Coffee House.

Long gone are the days where you would pop into you local Wimpy on the high street and order a cup of black coffee; and it was in a basic cup and saucer, there was no choice of Grande not a Tall not a Massimo or whatever they decided was best for you. It was just a bulk standard, Nescafe served in a stained cup and saucer complete with water mark in the indented rim maybe the added possibility or chip on the handle and that was as exciting as it got. Milk or cream came in little metal jugs and sugar would be neatly compressed in cubes and tightly wrapped in pairs by Tate & Lyle, which you always would take when your mother was not looking for consumption later that day.

We were not fussy; were we not bothered that the orange plastic chairs were uncomfortably attached to the tables by thick black metal pole which made it so difficult to get into even the most advanced contortionist could bend her frame elegantly enough to prevent the old guy in the corner from copping a perverted peek from behind his copy of the Daily Star whilst, ticking off the afternoon’s dead cert. with a stubby pen removed without knowledge from Argos. You see, this was another reason why we did not need the likes of Yoga or Pilates, a trip to your local Wimpy, once a week and you were sorted. Everything was fine, you had Wimpy, British Home Stores and Woolworths to keep us happy and we did not need the giants from across the pond dictating to us how we should take our beverage. Starbucks, for all we knew, was name of the leading man from Annie, who incidentally was played by an English man.

Ah, Starbucks. The global institution which, try as I might, even the likes of myself could not resist. Oh, the lure of intoxicating Java fragrances mingled with the aromatic melody of lounge bar jazz, possibly my one weakness, could not, in part, hold me back any longer. Yes, dear reader, I too have caved. To sit enfolded within her leather seats, entwined in the headiness of her caffeine induced rush, it is enough to make even the strongest will break and let’s face it even Samson cut his hair for a gorgeous siren. Coincidence that the mighty Starbuck trades under the brand of a Mermaid, whom legend has it, appears as gorgeous siren of the sea enchanting misguided sailors to the depths below? I am not saying another word, but you heard it here first.

Yes I admit it, I, Angel, of Southeast London, am addicted to Starbucks. I hold my hand up and publicly proclaim, within my chosen creative medium, that I, Angel, have fallen hook, line and sinker head first into the net and now dance in the belly of the corporate fat cat.

But am I not alone, no, take a look around you, even the inspired Kristin Chenoweth has fallen into his clutches. Singing a beautiful melodic rendition of love which has captivated her heart, there she is pouring out her heart one caressed note after the other stating her intentions with all eagerness and sincerity, but under what guise I ask you? Starbucks, there you go, so subtle, so sophisticated, however, deadly sinister, notice how the Mermaid fluidly manoeuvres her elegant charm and encapsulates Miss Chenoweth within her institutionalised grip, is there a romance in the making or was it just Romance in the Java?

Mysterious Coffee Bean Sorting Girl

Last week it was Fez Guy, unfortunately I have not seen him around much this week so, maybe he shall remain a distant memory within the pages of this Blog.

All is not lost, as while I was standing in the queue at Starbuck’s in Paddington Station quietly contemplating whom my next prodigy would be, when who should appear before my very eyes:

Spotted: Mysterious Coffee Bean Sorting Girl

Strange as it may appear, here was woman, I would say mid to late twenties very elegantly dressed picking through the display of coffee beans on the counter at Starbucks.

It was like she had some insane form of O.C.D, individually sorting out the green beans from the dark brown ones the light ones from the caramel ones. She did this with such precise intensity that I do believe that she makes an occupational habit of it and that this is not her first offence.

Was it that she was so deprived from caffeine that the torture of queuing for her Grande Mocha Choca latte Mocha Chino without cream non dairy (ok I made that bit up) built her into such a tight ball of tension that she felt the compulsion to organise the display to calm her nerves. It was like observing a child playing with a hand-eye co-ordination toy in a Montessori nursery school.

Is this why the display stand is there, to keep poor, unfortunate souls in dire need of caffeine, busy while they wait in line infringed in anticipation for their daily Java shot? Or is this part of some greater conspiracy, a master plan?

One thing is for sure, Mysterious Coffee Bean Sorting Girl, whoever you are, you made my day.

P.S. Still no sign of Fez Guy,  mind you, if he is not wearing his hat, how will I know it is him?

Sleep well all, I know I will.

My Thoughts Regarding Episode 003 parts 1 and 2

Well my first and only thought is this,  Angel, honey, as much as we all love you, you should not be allowed to drink a tall Starbucks Soya Latte an hour before shooting a video cast.

Oh My God, look how hyper I am, not to mention tired, yes very tired in fact, I am still feeling it three days on.  That is what happens when you get old.  Not content with bouncing around all over the place, I manage to talk so much and so fast that I go over the 10 minute threshold and YouTube declares me a violation, me, a violation.

You can also see how tired I actually am by the time I sit back an do the intro to the Book of the Month Club.

So thought for the week, Angel, listen to your body and get to bed early this week.  Do you think I will be paying attention to this advice?  Well I often give myself very good advice, by I very seldom follow it.  But hey, don't we all.

Next week I do want submit another review, I have been invited to the new club tomorrow night, if I get my head down now maybe I will not be too tired.

Thank you for watching, reading and subscribing.

Yay, Waterstone's Love Me

I cannot believe it, I have actually pinched myself on more than one occasion this afternoon after receiving an email from them.  Waterstone's are impressed with my Blog and Book of the Month
Club that they have very kindly allowed me to become an affiliate.  Now when you would like to buy a book from them online you can click through to my favourite store via your favourite Blogger, mainly, me!

One thing that is really good about their site is that you can order online and pick the books up from your local store.  That way you do not pay postage, genius!  I pick up my orders from Trafalgar Square branch on the way home from work.  Although you all know that my favourite branch is Waterstone's Piccadilly.

How exciting my, take on life is actually worth something.  I must call my mother and tell her, she will be so proud of me.

Soho's calling and She has a Manhattan with my name on it

I have been invited, by one of my many admirers, to the launch night of a new Lounge Club in Soho on Wednesday evening. So wonderful of him, I simply cannot say no.

The invitation boast the ambiance is that of a lounge bar .i.e. it's a Kylie / Madonna / Britney et al *Free Zone*, rather, the music you'll hear will be Sinatra / Serge Gainborough / smooth jazz / film soundtracks etc. This is a place to meet, greet, invite friends down for conversation or flirtation, what it isn't is a loud dance club. There are plenty of tables and bar chairs.

It sounds like it is right up my street, I am due in the salon Wednesday evening, but I shall try and pop along with P. later for a Manhattan or two.

How exciting, I smell a review coming on.

Why not take a look at P's. Website I have posted a banner at the bottom of the blog. The treatments come highly recommended, you never know, you may even bump into me.

Oh No, No Fez Guy!

Alas, no sign of Fez Guy this morning.

Perhaps I was not the only one who decided to try a different route. Maybe he chose one that did not involve having his picture taken by a crazed woman attiring a Victorian Mourning Coat reminiscent of character shot out of an Ann Rice novel.

If you spot him, email me.

Mauning

I decided to try a different route into work today, a girl has to get her kicks where she can, after all, this is Monday morning and let’s face it, commuting is dull.

From North Greenwich I travelled east to West Ham to see how long it would take to travel via the Hammersmith and City line. Upon arrival to this new station I was pleasantly greeted by a radio announcement from informing me:

“Trav-all upday-ate informay-tion from the stay-tion contro-lla, ‘ere-at West ‘Am. There iz-a gaw-d survice on’ll Lar-ndar-n Au-ndergrau-nd Lye-nes this mau-ning.”

Don’t you just love a good strong east end accent?

I smiled knowing all is right with the world.

Although it seems a longer route, it took, in truth, about the same amount of time. Back to the Jubilee line tomorrow, something are just not worth messing with.

Angel's Book of the Month Club: February

Those of you who caught me online late Wednesday evening, know that I spent the evening with P. at the Cinema.  There is nothing I love more that going out to see good film with my girl friends.  Last week we sat and blubbed over ‘Seven Pounds’.  The film we view on Wednesday night had more of a feel good factor and in the true form of

Valentine’s week the pair of us sat down to ‘He’s Just Not That Into You’.

I enjoyed it so much I decided to purchase a copy of the book.

Therefore, by default the first of the month will be:

He's Just Not That into You: The No-Excuses Truth to Understanding Guys by Greg Behrendt &  Liz Tuccillo

I’ve got my copy and plan to review it in March.

Angel's Book of the Month Club

So Angel, tell us about your Book of the Month Club.

This will be an interactive video cast, I’m not sure yet whether I cast it as part of Sundays with Angel I am thinking it may warrant a cast in its own right.  However, I do have the format planned out:

  • Each month I will post, on the Blog site, an introduction to the book of the month.
  • When I have read my copy I will post a few questions for discussion regarding the book.
  • I will record my own cast for the YouTube site.
  • Then it is over to your guys to post an open forum of video responses to the cast.

I will look into setting up an Forum page for those who do not have the facility to video cast. I am really excited about this new project and hope that it will be something that you can all get involved with.

Rucksack & Fez

Believe me when I tell you, I do not make these things up, yesterday, Helicopter Pilot outside my office window and today Fez Guy on the bus. In true gossip girl style I actually took photographic evidence on my mobile phone to prove thus:

Spotted: Young man on London bus travelling to North Greenwich Station sporting a Fez hat.

Yes it was a real Fez too, not one used for fancy dress. Now, I know it is cold and I am the first to hold up my hand as to one who is pro designer headwear. Heavens, I even professed such an addiction to you all last week during my video cast. However, am I the only one that believes a young man sporting attire of a Turkish nature, in the middle of winter on a London bus to be complete act of randomness?

It completely through me, there it was, as bold as brass, very stylish tassel hanging slight offset to the right. No one seemed perturbed by this extremely dapper young man, who co-ordinated this look with cream cashmere scarf, kaki Regatta coat and retro black rucksack. I wonder if he wears a smoking jacket and slippers at home.

Farewell Fez Guy, whoever you are, I wish you well; you really have made my day.

Red Devil

London / West End / 12:20

Goodness, a huge red Virgin air ambulance is just hovering outside of my office window right next to our building; I can see the face of the pilot, nice pecks. He has landed just the other side of the canal.

Diet Coke Break anyone?

Late Again!

Good Morning All,

I am running late today. Arrived in the office at 09:15, an hour later than usual, this was due to the fact that the Blackwall Tunnel was closed this morning. What would be a 5 minute bus journey took me over 45 minutes. Yes I am having one of those day, hold that, strike it, reverse, let me rephrase. I am actually having one of those weeks.

Spotted: Cute guy on Jubilee line, suited and booted, olive skin with messed up hair. Sitting opposite me he smiled and winked when he got off at Canary Wharf.

Maybe the day is not as bad as I made out after all.

London for Lovers: Evening Standard Supplement

Good Evening,
Add Image
I trust you all had good days, mine was extraordinarily busy and I left the office at 19:00.  I did manage to purchase a copy of the Evening Standard and have a flick through the London for Lovers Supplement.

I was quite looking forward to it, I do not usually read a paper on the Tube it does tend to sport a wrestling match, all arms and elbows managing to get ink all over the place.  Yes I am that woman on the Bakerloo line that you try not to laugh at and avoid sitting next to.  This evening was no exception and after what seemed an age and two whole stops I comfortably took up my position and read the supplement.

Split into four sections:  Where to take your loved one / The perfect present / Something for the weekend? / A night to remember

To be honest, the perfect present section, I felt, was not up to much.   Personally, as a lady, I believe a small box of Charbonnel et Walker Pink Champagne Truffles are a very classic but stylish gift and although an extravagant indulgence, which one would not purchase on a regular basis, will not break the bank of any ernest gentleman.*

It seemed clear, from the outset, that the main target for the supplement was straight couples.  Therefore, to suggest purchasing a pair of Pink Calvin Klein underpants 'FOR HIM' I felt was just asking for trouble and not as the editorial suggest 'certainly put a smile on his face' though the article came clean with  'Only real men wear pink', note to self ladies, if you feel the need to purchase your partner pink underwear, unless he is extremely comfortable with his sexuality, avoid at all costs.  Perhaps the editor should resubmit this article during the week Gay Pride.

Something for the weekend reviewed romantic city breaks in London, Paris, Rome, Venice Bruges and Suffolk, yes, you heard me, Suffolk.  Where as a night to remember reviewed the usual round up of West End Musical Theatre.

It was the first section 'Where to take your loved one'  which delighted me and surfaced a few hidden gems, mainly in form of a FREEBIE - The National Theatre are showing a free screening of the film Shakespeare in Love, you know the one, with Gwynie and Joseph Fiennes it is being screened onto the Fly Tower at 20:15.  It is outside so be sure to wrap up warm and pack a Thermos.  If you are in the Capital this weekend, it is worth while taking a look through this section as there is something there of everyone.

Don't worry if you did not get a copy, I found it on the Evening Standard website:

So take a butcher's and let's make a date of it.

Eating out in London can be an expensive business, not that I would know as the bill is nearly always taken care of. One thing I love more than a Man who takes me out to dinner, is a Man who has a nose for a good bargain.

So many good offers here I had to share them with you:

Valentines Day Supplement In the Evening Standard Today

Just a quick post, just while I’m at lunch, I noticed in the Metro, over the shoulder of a gorgeous gentleman on the Tube this morning, in tonight’s Evening Standard there an 8 Page supplement entitled ‘London For Lovers.’

Not that I have a Lover at the moment, however, I intend on purchasing a copy to see what they are reviewing. I will cherry pick a few and post this evening.

Have a great Afternoon.

My Thoughts of Episodes 001 & 002

Hello every one,

Thank you for joining me on my new Blog page, I must be mad, however, I do think the channel may warrant one as we can all throw some thoughts down on here.  I would like this blog to be as interactive as possible, so please feel free to comment and post ideas, it is your channel as well as my own.

I am really pleased the way Episode:  002 turned out, I still laugh when I see myself in my hat and my nose poking through.  So far I have had 81 hits, which isn't really bad.  I am still overwhelmed that Episode:  001 has clocked up over 200 hits.  Thank you so much.

I now have 18 subscribers and have received numerous messages of support  from other YouTubers.  Would you believe, I even found a clip of my first video cast edited into a video cast made by one of my subscribers:  XRomedawX's Inner Child.

I am really enjoying this new experience and have already developed up quite a few opening skits for the coming weeks, something I have had a lot of fun with.  Members of my family have looked at the channel and have laughed saying that it has me written all over it.

I hope you are all enjoying watching them as much I have making them.

Love you all,

Angel
